on february 19, the 1.6 mw rooftop solar power generation project of longyuan power, a subsidiary of china energy, in yanqing district, beijing, successfully began operation. this is the first photovoltaic project launched by china energy in beijing.

the project features solar panels on the roofs of 25 buildings in yanqing park, a sub-organization of zhongguancun science park, with a total installed capacity of 1.6 mw. the electricity generated is boosted to 10 kv by converters before being connected into the micro-grid of the yanqing park and transmitted to final users. the electricity generated by the project is primarily used to meet the demand of the industrial park, while the extra amount is supplied to the state grid. the intelligent micro-grid of yanqing park integrates wind power, solar power, as well as power storage, conversion, distribution, usage, transfer and connectivity, fully demonstrating the advanced concept and technology of green energy that features reliable power supply and intelligent power utilization.
when completed, the project will operate in full capacity for 1,181 hours per year and provide nearly 2 million kwh of green power for the industrial park, accounting for 25% of its designed electricity demand. moreover, an independent micro-grid demonstration project integrating urban micro-grid technology and advanced control concepts such as photovoltaic power, power storage and users, as well as construction and operation patterns, has been completed in the badaling economic development zone in beijing, which provides a replicable and effective solution to expanding the use of new energy.
